Mediumship is a term used to refer to a person who communicates with spirits or entities in other realms or dimensions. They are able to receive information or messages by tuning in to varying energy fields. Mediums may receive information through various forms such as hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and feeling messages from spirit.
Some mediums claim to remain conscious during this communication period, while ‘full trance’ mediums state that they pass into an unconscious state in which their physical and mental processes are completely controlled by the spirit visitors.
Many of these methods and abilities have endured negative connotations throughout history up into today’s consciousness. For centuries these gifts were forbidden and hidden in cryptic messages that few could interpret. People and religious leaders feared the power of the gifted and the truth these people would bring to an enlightened consciousness. These gifts ultimately became feared and labeled as black magic, witchcraft, or communication with evil spirits.
As the collective consciousness expands, we are naturally becoming more in tune with ourselves, as well as with others. We are returning to an age of enlightenment in which we are all activating our DNA codes to discover who we are and why we are here. Being opening to our inherent psychic abilities has to do with DNA activation of our encoded cellular memories, activation of our chakras, raising our frequency, balancing our energy bodies, our self esteem, the ability to trust in what we ‘hear’, ‘feel’, and ‘see’, our emotional state, and expanding our knowledge base in all areas of physical reality.
We are always connected to all the dimensions; we need only focus on what is being experienced daily to realize how our immediate destiny is manifesting. Be consciously aware of all the signs and symbols around you; take the time to experience the bigger picture.
MENTAL MEDIUMSHIP
Mental Mediumship has several different aspects, such as Clairvoyance, (Clear Seeing) Clairaudience (Clear Hearing), Clairsentience, (Clear Sensing), Clairalience (Clear Smell) and Clairgustance (Clear tasting). It is the relaying of information through communication, via the varied aspects of thought transference, or mental telepathy, without using any of the five physical senses. Mental mediumship takes place within the consciousness of the medium. The results are expressed verbally and must pass through the medium’s mouth.
In a demonstration of mental mediumship, it is the medium that hears, sees, tastes, smells and feels what the spirit communicators are relating. Furthermore, it is the medium’s function to relate the information, with minimum personal influence and prejudice, to the recipient of the message, also known as the ‘sitter’. The medium receives this information under various states of control.
PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP
Physical mediumship is defined as manipulation of energies and energy systems by spirits or entities. It may involve perceptible manifestations such as loud raps and noises, voices, materialized objects, apports, materialized spirit bodies, automatic writing, and levitation. The medium is used as source of power and substance for such spirit manifestations. This is sometimes said to be accomplished by using the energy or ectoplasm released by a medium.
Ectoplasm is the substance which produces spirit materializations, telekinesis and other forces from other dimensions. Closely related to the concept of ectoplasm is the aura, a subtle field of luminous multicolored radiation surrounding a person or object.
All phenomena can occur in normal state of consciousness, but also can be induced by drugs, fasting, illness, hyperesthesia, or scrying.
CLAIRVOYANCE
Clairvoyance or ‘Clear Seeing,’ is the ability to see beyond the five senses. It is also referred to as the ‘sixth sense’ or ESP. This sight occurs or is seen through what is known as either ‘the mind’s eye or the third eye.’ It is directly linked to the pineal gland located within the human brain.
There are those who say that this is their normal vision state. Others say that they must train their minds with such practices as meditation in order to achieve this ability. Some clairvoyant mediums can see an entity as though the entity has a physical body. They see the bodily form as if it were physically present. Other mediums see the entity in their mind’s eye, or it appears as a movie or a television program or a still picture like a photograph in their mind. Some objects will be given to the Medium to be interpreted symbolically.
CLAIRSENTIENCE
Clairsentience or ‘Clear Sensing,’ is the ability to sense other realities or entities through the sense of touch or feeling. There are those who feel sensations within the energy fields (auric fields) of those in the physical and spiritual realms.
Another aspect of clairsentience is known as psychometry. It is the ability to hold an object and sense the energy fields surrounding that item.
Here are some common sensations experienced when connecting to other realms:
- A tingling sensation in the body when connecting with spirit. This usually includes the face, hands, neck and sometimes the entire body.
- Chills or hairs on the back of the neck standing on end when spirit is present.
- A sensation on the left side of the face when connecting with spirit. Energy enters through the left side of the body (right brain) and exists through the right. The right side of the brain represents the female energy and is related to intuition, guidance and inspiration.
- Pressure on the crown or other charkas throughout the body or physical touch sensations felt on the body
- A cool breeze or change in room temperature
- An out of place scent or taste, sometimes reminiscent of other dimensions or those who have transitioned beyond this physical plane of existence.
CLAIRAUDIENCE
Clairaudience or ‘Clear Hearing,’ is the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of entities. This is commonly known as channeling. This can be experienced as voices in the mediums head or thoughts running through the mind. Some mediums hear as though they are listening to a person talking to them through their physical ear, as though the entity is next to or near to them.
CLAIRALIENCE
Clairalience or ‘Clear Smelling’ is the ability to smell a familiar odor or scent associated with a loved one who has transitioned.
For example, a medium may smell the pipe tobacco of a person who smoked during life. Some may even experience unfamiliar or comfortable smells directly associated with their previous incantations.
CLAIRGUSTANCE
Clairgustance or ‘Clear Tasting,’ is the ability to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste without putting anything physically in the mouth.
