Much can be written about this genius of a man. One of Einstein’s greatest achievements was ‘the theory of relativity’, E=mc². Without getting into the details, basically this theory means: energy equals mass times the speed of light squared”.
Einstein had a clear view of the problems of physics and a strong determination to solve them. He had his own strategy and visualization for each stage of his goal. Einstein viewed his achievements as mere stepping stones for his next advancement.
Einstein’s more important works include: Special Theory of Relativity (1905), Relativity, General Theory of relativity (1916), Investigations on Theory of Brownian Movement (1926), and The Evolution of Physics (1938); as well as non-scientific and perhaps his most important works such as: About Zionism (1930), Why War? (1933), My Philosophy (1934), and Out of My Later Years (1950).
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. The family moved around a lot. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Munich, then to Italy and Switzerland. Einstein began his schooling in Munich at the Luitpold Gymnasium, then on to Aarau, Switzerland. It was in Switzerland that he entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich. It was here, in 1896, that he began his training to be a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1901 he became a Swiss citizen and accepted a position as technical assistant to the Swiss Patent Office, as he was not able to find a teaching position. In 1905 he obtained his doctor’s degree.
Chronology of his time beginning with his post at the Swiss Patent Office:
- 1908 – was appointed Privatdozent in Berne
- 1909 – became Professor Extraordinary at Zurich
- 1911 – Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague
- 1912 – returns to Zurich to fill a post similar to Professor Theoretical Physics
- 1914 – appointed Dir. of the Kaiser Silhelm Physical Institute and Professor at the Univ. of Berlin
- 1914 – became a German citizen
- 1933 – renounced his German citizenship for political reasons and emigrated to America
- 1933 – Professor of Theoretical Physics at Princeton
- 1940 – became a United States Citizen
- 1945 – retired
Einstein was a leading figure in the World Government Movement after World War II. During that time he was offered and declined the Presidency of the State of Israel, instead collaborating with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in establishing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
After his retirement, he continued working towards the unification of the basic concepts of physics using geometrisation. Einstein researchers have well chronicled his more important works.
Einstein married to Mileva Maric in 1903 with whom he had (1) daughter and (2) sons. Their marriage was dissolved in 1919 and he married his cousin, Elsa Löwenthal that same year. Elsa died in 1936 and Einstein died on April 18, 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey.
